Once again Games4Kids will be running a pub crawl to raise money for kids in hospital, this time the pub crawl is in North Adelaide. This pub crawl also includes a little something special.

Well the day started with a few of the Games4Kids members going down to Glenelg's Beach House to support one of its members. Lisa M raised approximately $1500 for leukemia research for the “Worlds Greatest Shave?”appeal. On the spur of the moment Bec and myself got our hair coloured, for a goldcoin donation.

After this we went into town for the "Nicholas Tweedy - the Mentalist show". Bec and I were there early and I was able to meet Nicholas, who was a great guy. Thanks to Sean S, Nicholas knew we were there for charity and gave us his best wishes. Everyone slowly started rocking up was there by 5pm, except for two stragglers, but they were expected to be late. In the end we had Bec L, Sean S, Jessica S, Brian S, Megan S, Heidi P, Anna C, Andrew P and myself with the two stragglers being Stacey W and Priscilla S. Thanks to a generous donation by Stacey we managed to raise $70 this event.

We all sat down for dinner which was included in the $27.75 ticket price. I had the chicken snitzel with pepper sauce, which was nice. The meals were simple pub fare but still good value and I heard no complaints except in regards to the amount of veggies on everyones plate (mostly from you, Shaun- Bec). Once dinner was complete we took our seats in the third and fourth rows from the front. Great seats, well at least mine was

A little about Nicholas Tweedy. Nicholas Tweedy is a mentalist, a very special kind of illusionist who plays tricks with your mind. In this show he porforms up close-Levitations, Mind-Reading and Jaw-Dropping Illusions.

He started with some "basic" levitation tricks that amazed the crowd, his next set of acts involved mind reading. He called Stacey W up to the stage to assist ,however it has been revealed it was actually Heidi's outburst that got Nicholas attention (he asked everyone to say BS, and manged to pick Heidi's).

The trick was Nicholas had to put a picture of a card in Stacey's head. After a while he then asked her to to announce to the crowd the card she was seeing in her mind. He then took a pack of cards, which had one card already placed face down in the pack. He asked Stacey to pick the face down card, which was the same card Stacey had announced!

Another of his trick that was impressive was when Nicholas was supposedly going to cure someone of their smoking habit. It involved putting out a lit cigarette on some clothing but once the trick is complete, there is no smoke, there is no mark on the clothing and nowhere for Nicholas to have hidden the Cigarette. Even I was called up on stage, though it's typical that I would get asked on stage an hour after having my zip on my jeans break. All that was standing between me and an indecent exposure charge were my boxers. Nicholas, the champ that he is, even told the crowd that I was here collecting for a charity and I had brought a group of friends along, however I would have looked quite funny with blue hair, a black eye and a red beard. I even managed to get a few laughs from the crowd for just being me. My job was to protect a package and not to allow Nicholas anywhere near it until he asked for it and at one random time he asked me to hand him a few things and I replied with "You don't ask for much do you?", which again got a few giggles from the crowd (the cheque is in the mail ). Basically Nicholas got a random from the crowd to choose a number from the phone book at random. All the while I'm tugging at my shirt to try and cover the gaping hole in my jeans. Once he had the number he got me to open the package, the package contained a newspaper and the number the random choose matched exactly to the classified add he had circled previously (before the show). I have no idea how he did it, but was great trick. This was one of the last acts of the night.

My overall thoughts are this guy is amazing, he had every single person asking how and thinking "There is no way that's possible", and he uses randomly selected members of the crowd just to prove that his tricks are the real deal. If he comes back again i will be going to see him again and i might even make him a permanent event for Games4Kids. On top of this Nicholas is a great guy very friendly and very humble. As you can see i can not speak highly enough of Nicholas and his show.

After the show, we went down to the Strathmore Hotel just for a drink or two and to chat, socialise and talk about the show. After this seven or so people went back to Sean S and Jessica S' house to party on. Everyone had a blast, so a special thanks goes to these guys for their gracious hospitality.

Thanks again to everyone that attended and help support the cause. The event was a great success and we were able to secure two new fans to the Games4Kids family with both Lisa M and Anna C saying they would attend future events.

Well I’m pleased to announce that the worst part of the day was at the beginning, with a 7am wake-up call and starting preparations for the day ahead. Upon arrival at Paintball Sports I was surprised to see that people had already arrived, with the rest of the group arriving within forty-five minutes. In the end we had thirty-four people show up (after two or three pikers) so overall we had a great turn out.

We signed up and were given our gear and had approximately 20 minutes to suit up, get to know each other, chat to each other and of course start psyching each other out.

The teams were randomly selected, which I believe was the best way to divide the group. They did allow us to change teams if we wanted, allowing some people to play with their friends, while others weren’t too fussed and took it as a chance to be able to shoot their friends.

After the brief safety lesson we set out for the first field, which consisted of a whole bunch of containers to be used as cover. We split up with Reds at one end and Skins at the other and proceeded to shoot each other. I was knocked out in seconds (lucky shot!!), but lucky enough it was on the shoulder so didn’t count, as only torso and head shots were considered kills. It ended with a stand off between Beardman and Skyfox, with Skyfox taking the win for the Skins team. It was a good taste of paintball, giving all the paintball n00bs some good practice but in my opinion it was the least challenging field.

From here we moved along to 'Saving Private Ryan'. While I don’t see the connection between the name and the field (it should have been called 'Gallipoli' - Bec), the main objective was to charge the hill. We had 10 minutes to get someone on the road. The big problem was that the Reds were camped behind barricades located just before the road.

Once again it came down to Beardman and Skyfox as the two main players. With thirty seconds to go Skyfox made his sprint to line, while also engaging in a one vs. one battle with Beardman. Skyfox was able to make it to the line before Beardman was able to get a paintball to burst. With the Skins winning 2 – 0, it was now time for the Reds to charge and a chance for the Skins to camp and defend the road. Unfortunately after my assassination, I was recalled to the car for my camera batteries, so I missed the Reds' first victory.

Now with the scores at 2 – 1 and the Skins still winning, it was time to play capture the flag on an L-shaped field. First up as the attacking team were the Skins. The objective was to make it the flag which was hidden in a van parked at the intersection of the roads and in perfect firing range of a lot of bunkers. Unfortunately the skins team got bogged down by too much cover fire, however special mention goes to Rebecca Lehman who actually made it all the way to the van for the Skins, but was taken out while trying to escape with the flag. After this the Skins got held down until time expired.

With the Reds successfully making their comeback and the scores all tied away, it was now the skins turn to defend that flag. It didn’t, however, go to plan as they flanked up and provided fire from everywhere. It was so bad that if I moved my head above the barrier it would have been shot off. Then at the worst possible time, just as Stacey and one of his team mates made it into the van, I ran out of ammo. I was trying to push them back by bluffing and firing blanks until I was flanked by surprised. Had it not been for Skyfox and Frosty's great defensive work using approximately 300 balls each, it would have ended a lot sooner, however with seconds remaining the Reds managed to successfully get the flag back to base and take the lead.

While we waited for the ravine to be ready we decided to play trenches. Now let me tell you this, it was the worst decision we could have made. The Skins were pinned down and eventually surrounded for an easy victory for the Reds.

Once the Reds annihilated the Skins in the trenches, we went down into the ravine. The Skins were doing well, until several of us made a bad decision. A few of us went high and to the right without realizing that while we had great cover initially, there was no where to move forward to. I went for a run, managing to get to their equivalent bunker, shot a few people but got hit several times. I thought I was dead and it wasn’t until I was in the safe house that I realised that none actually burst on me.

After the ravine field we decided to call it a day, which meant one last field to use any remaining paintballs.This field consisted of a lot of three foot high signs to hide behind. Because this was the last map, we had reduced numbers, but the game kept going until everyone had run out of bullets. This field was more fun then I thought and Frosty kept us entertained with his "Surrender!" runs. I think Frosty takes the cake for making the most people surrender.

We trudged back up the hill and returned to base to cook a BBQ and enjoy a bit of a chat. I was surprised with the amount of meat that people brought along, and as usual we were left with some snags and other food left over.

Overall it was a great day. Everything went to plan with most people showing up or giving me at least twenty-four hours notice when they piked. I would like to thank everyone that came along and made the day as enjoyable as it was. I'd also like to give a special thanks to anyone who helped out on the day either by bringing meat, providing lifts or just generally helping out.

3. Frosty

There will be another paintballing day later in the year, however it was agreed the next one will be an official Games4Kids event. I will keep people posted on details.
